I've spent over a week looking for an affordable small 2-in-1 touchscreen PC with Windows, not Chrome OS.Also, these factors were important to me:Storage type - been using windows for 26 years, since windows 3.11 and I know how over time it WILL get bloated and thus slow down. Also, I know firsthand how a simple upgrade from HDD to SSD can make a system work tremendously faster, so only SSD would do. I really tried to avoid under 64GB SSDs and the inferior eMMC storage, and I would never recommend to anyone to go for those.Battery life is enough for me to last me through 5 hours of class, mainly to take notes and do excel exercises. Love using it to read ebooks, news articles, general web surfing and video playback in bed.The only letdown so far is the slower than expected performance while playing a 4K video file to an external screen - I specifically chose this laptop because it's GPU and CPU (yes, I know they are weak still) are still better than what most other models at this price range have (usually a slower Intel CPU with an integrated GPU).
Initial review: Not sure what that 1 star rating was about--maybe from the person who said it didn't boot out of the box. If so, I could understand. I've bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband and didn't want to get in a bind on the return timeline if there was an issue when he started it up, so I pulled it out of the box and started initial set up upon receipt. So far everything works just fine with no issues at all, no demands to update Windows before it will do anything, which I have seen noted as a problem on other machines. It's a nice little laptop, seems to have everything as described, good display, very sleek. Has a nice sturdy feel to it--not like it's going to shatter if you flip it into tablet mode. So far, so good. I will update this review after it goes into active service and he starts loading software, but right now, it's good.
This thing runs so slow that NO ONE CAN FIX IT without installing a new OS because the version of Windows is ANCIENT. There is one driver the Asurion protection people had me check that was from 2006. Turns out when I bought this from Amazon in 2020, I was buying a computer built in 2019 but with software from ???? and the manufacturer's warranty expired in September 2020. So now Dell will fix it for extra $$$ -- BAIT N SWITCH PEOPLE. I am so furious, really. I can't believe there's no recourse.
