First, I like the size, weight and performance of this laptop...now that I have it working. The first couple of days with it was a challenge. Upon receipt, I immediately switched from Windows S to Windows 10 Home. No problem. I connected to wifi and loaded Norton 360. Then I began the Windows updates...I got multiple blue screen of death (bsod). Would boot sometimes other times no. Reloaded windows...same problem. Downloaded drivers and bios flash from Asus...ran Windows startup repair and manually restarted. Finally, the laptop stabilized and has been running correctly since. I was just about ready to return but I really like this laptop. Will update with more time if problems develop. I'm still not sure what the original problems were. For now four stars...8/4/21 Returned the laptop after repeated blue screens of death. Would only run short periods of time between freeze ups...maybe a hardware problem..?
Disappointed in sound volume level and the color resolution is kind of washed out overall, with no adjustment that I can find. Backlite keyboard is good.Overall a good laptop
I have other Asus computers and am generally a pretty big fan. This particular computer, however, just wouldn't function. Constant blue screens of death (BSODs) and sometimes the only way to boot the computer up again was by removing and reloading windows. Not ideal. I worked many times with Asus (fairly responsive and helpful) ensuring all drivers, the bios, etc were up to date and any other diagnostics completed. Sadly, it didn't help and they indicated it may be a hardware problem. Asus suggested returning the product as the simplest course of action. I did. Also, no problems there. Amazon was super helpful and immediately shipped a replacement. New replacement in hand, the same issue happened. Could it be a bad batch? I don't know, I'm just sad the computer isn't working because I really liked everything else about it. Until some reviews start coming in indicating this bad run has cleared out (it is mid August 2021 as I type), I'd recommend looking at a different model. As I need a computer right now, despite my liking Asus, that is what I am doing. Please note there is another review that described performance nearly identical to what I have seen with two of these.
