Pros:A general-use computer with a huge screen, backlit keyboard, and above-average battery capacity. Good for movies/videos and viewing multiple documents simultaneously.Acer hardware is pretty solid in my experience. This one came out of the box in perfect shape and I'm expecting years of service out of it. The case is bigger than its guts require because of the large display, so the internals are laid out with good ventilation and no kinked wires, and the hinges are extra meaty.Drawbacks:It's not sporty. Uses a low end mobile Core i7 CPU and has shared graphics memory. Not a good choice for graphics- or computation-intensive use like gaming or rendering. It's a big boy. That nice big screen requires a large case form factor and it weighs in at 5 3/4 lbs. Easy enough to carry from room to room and use on your lap, but it will be a hassle wrestling it in and out of backpacks, etc., and it takes up a lot of desk real estate. My opinion:This configuration of the Aspire 5 works well for the way I want to use it and I'm very satisfied with it overall. It's what I expected. My only complaints are fairly minor and I think I'll get accustomed to them: I would have preferred a control layout with a centered keyboard/touchpad (i.e., with no number pad), and I'm not crazy about the feel of the case finish. Basically, the look and feel is different from the computer it's replacing and it doesn't feel comfy yet.Note: pictures are of the Acer A517-52-713G, which is externally identical to this model.
I could not find any thing to dislike about this laptop. I've owned Acer laptops in the past and this is by far the fastest I've owned. Setup was a breeze, took about 15-20 minutes. The WIFI was easy and Bluetooth connected quick. I noticed when I down loaded software my down load time was cut in half. Not sure why but I'm not complaining. When the time comes to get another laptop I'll go to Acer for it. I'm that impressed with it.
I am happy with my new acer laptop. I was looking for good screen and fast internet surfing laptop for daily work. And It works fantastic while looking very nice. It is the fastest computer I have ever seen (well now after pandemic times i am not hanging around that much). The complete set up was less than 20 min. It takes less than 1 min to star up. I am surprised it has no SD card reader, i missed it.
