★★★★★ I was hesitant to buy and install a new battery and as Apple usually says: "you can't do it yourself" or that the max memory on my mid 2012 13" MBP had a "8 GB max memory capacity." Apple then changed their tune and now say my MBP has a max memory capacity of 16 GB, which I had already upgraded to. Moral of the story, our laptops do not become obsolete/irrelevant/out-of-date as fast as the company wants us to believe.I purchased this battery and after 5 minutes, had installed it myself. I gave a favorable rating for longevity of the battery, yet I will readjust my review as needed.At this point, I don't know if one brand is better than another with the after-markets, but please know that a battery replacement doesn't mean your laptop is at the end of the road. FYI, the Geek Squad had told me to buy a new MBP when my fan was making noise. I simply ordered a new fan, installed it myself and here I am typing on the same device 5 yrs later. Good Luck and be smart. If you have questions, search the Amazon questions/reviews or the Apple forums. You invested in a quality product and because of that, you need to get a second opinion or do more research before you disregard it. ★★★★★ The battery in my daughter's 2010 MacBook Pro 13 had "exploded" damaging the trackpad in the process. Battery arrived in box exactly as shown. Construction feels solid and the battery fit perfectly -- the included screwdrivers made installation easy. It's only been a few days but I rated the battery life based on how it performed during the recommended recalibration process. With all the power saving features turned off, it still took several hours to drain the battery from its fully charged state. I am hopeful it will continue to perform well and that I will have no reason to take advantage of the 12 month warranty. With the new battery and trackpad along with an earlier SSD drive upgrade, we've extended its life for only a fraction of the cost of a new MacBook .
★★★★★ Ok, well, probably doesn't "make your laptop better than new" as the inner box proudly proclaims but it's certainly an improvement over the aging original battery which was physically deformed and damaging the trackpad.Well packaged with necessary tools (a bonus, as I didn't realize they included those). Only issue with fit was on my end, as you need to line up both screws to attach the battery before torquing them down or the second one may not want to bite into the threads; if you run into that problem, loosen the first screw and the battery can be shifted a millimeter or so for proper alignment. Never force a screw that doesn't want to bite or you may strip the threads and damage your laptop.If you're a novice, I'd also recommend being careful where you set the screws holding the case together. Three screws near the hinge are longer and you need to keep track of what goes where. Otherwise, this is a simple replacement that most people could perform. If you need additional help, I'd suggest ifixit or a similar site where other users have thrown a repair guide together. The included instructions won't be of much help if you haven't opened up a laptop before.But overall, my impression is good and I'd buy again. Packaging was great for a generic product. Fit and quality of construction met my expectations; no better or worse than the original. I'll update my review should I run into any problems down the road.
