Reminder: This is the Flex 14iWL 81sq, NOT the Flex 5.There are so many similar looking and sounding laptops on Amazon it's easy to overlook some potential sleepers. I think this is one of them. Why?1. Normally this budget model with the 5405U processor comes with the cheaper 1366x768 TN screen. This one has IPS 1080 and it looks terrific.2. This is the only sub-500 laptop on Amazon with expandable ram. The 4GB is not soldered on and can be swapped out.3. The Pentium 5405U sounds like a poorer quality processor than it is. It is equivalent if not the same as the predecessor i3 7020u, and benchmarks equal to the mobile i5s like i5-6200u you'd find in older Thinkpads that are still popular. Unless you do photo/video editing/gaming the 5405u should be plenty fine.4. Build quality, feel, and flexibility are impressive. Impressive enough to write make write a review certainly.Cons1. The SSD provided is pretty slow compared to popular options like Samsung EVO, WD, Crucial etc. This isn't noticeable in real world use, but it's worth noting.2. The PCIe lanes have been halved, so SSD speeds are slower than they should be when benchmarked. This is not noticeable in the real world so far, the laptop is responsive and snappy as is, but if you do plan the occasional intensive workload you may want to upgrade the SSD to help compensate. That's it. Can't really think of any other cons.TIPS1. For smoothest, most responsive experience pull up Performance Options (use search) and select Best Performance with smooth font still selected. This reduces all the bells and whistles of Windows look, reducing power usage and therefore will help extend battery life. I do this for my desktop as well. I like the more minimalist look and the OS is snappier. Who cares about drop shadows on a laptop?2. Avoid Chrome as a browser. Chrome has been shown over and over again as being the worst option for both ram usage and battery life. Both Firefox and Edge are better in this regard, with Microsoft Edge being the best for battery life.3. Disable Bluetooth if you don't use it. This is a must if you don't use bluetooth. Bluetooth consumes a fair amount of battery power as well as other resources thanks to the halved PCIe lanes mentioned earlier. Don't just disable in Windows settings. Pull up Device Manager (in your laptop search bar on bottom left), select Blue tooth, right click and disable. You can enable again whenever you need it. Now watch your battery life go up. You'll thank me later. For ~$400 this laptop is a bargain renewed so far. Will update if anything changes. This may be the best deal on Amazon budget laptops right now.
I needed a laptop, since someone broke my laptop. Both of my jobs required me to have a laptop, so I was trying to get a laptop at a decent price. My previous laptop was a 2 in 1 Yoga Thinkpad I bought four years ago, and I just loved it, so, when I found this, I got it right away! I had my eye on a laptop twice the price, but it wasn't going to arrive until July. I was not disappointed when I tried it out. It's almost like I never lost my previous laptop. Thank you!
After gauation I was looking for the perfect laptop to use as I enter the workforce and entreprenuerial world. I was debating between a few laptop choices. It wasn't until I came across this Lenovo 2-in-1 Convertible Laptop that I was able to rule out all others. I received it in the mail extremely quicklyin less than 2 days and everything workings great. It is the best laptop I have ever had.
