★☆☆☆☆ Its a flimsy wired lock for portable electronics and thats about it. Instead of Kingsten slot, Dell ultra slim inspirons and XPS laptops use this smaller slot (called Noble slot) and highly effective, inexpensive and universal locking cables do not fit into the slot. You can get an excellent Kingsten wire lock for 10-12 bucks, either with keys or combination lock. Unfortunately, if your PC/Mac has this smaller slot you have no choice but to buy this one. While the lock functions as intended, the wire is very thin, a crook with a decent cutting pliers can snap it in seconds. Just because this is the only brand out there, it is priced at 40 bucks. Such a flimsy wire lock for Kingsten slot would be less than 5 bucks and you can find plenty of them here on Amazon. Any advantage in the locking mechanism is negated by the weak wires. This piece is worth no more than 10 bucks but due to the lack of competition, they are ripping consumers off.
★★☆☆☆ Taking advantage of being a custom accessory, similar to some fruit branded devices, this product delivers nothing extraordinary in performance, and everything too much in price. To be fair, all laptop locks that attach to the case can be broken rather easily by the prepared, even by the creative opportunist; common household items are sufficient tools. I purchased this because a flimsy lock is still better than no lock to prevent a passer by from swiping a laptop off the table on my porch while I get a glass of water; an unlikely but not impossible scenario.
★★★☆☆ Before buying this or any laptop locking product, make sure you have the correct standard. We discovered at the last moment that the older Kensington lock would not work with our new Dell laptops. We bought the "wedge" lock. This product is a very light duty locking system using a key. Anyone very determined with some time and the right tools could defeat this security. But, it should stop sticky finger snatches. We bought three and one plastic bag had the cable lock but no keys! Amazon got a replacement pronto and I just dropped off the original product at a Kohls for a no cost return. Our set was based upon a double sided key that inserts and then when you press it in, releases the wedge lock. Seems to work just fine. You can not apparently ask for multiple sets that use the same key - each key only opens that one lock. Two keys are provided. We are using these security cable locks to keep laptops from wandering off from a hotel ballroom. They will be attached to a heavy duty equipment stand. Of course someone could walk off with the stand and laptop, but that would be awkward.
