my spectre x360 randomly died one day. After that reboot it worked fine -- as long as it was plugged in! The system diagnostic said the battery was fine, but if you pulled the power the whole thing died.I got ready to buy a whole new laptop, but as a last ditch effort i bought this aftermarket battery. While I waited for it to arrive (prime, next day, all good) I undid the bottom screws (tiny torx screws, not normal but I happened to have the right one) and took the old OEM battery out. My kids and I had fun deconstructing it to see exactly what was in it. Turns out that there are three separate cells, all wired into a surprisingly complex circuit board, and all of that wrapped up into a single flat plastic coated unit. This battery was EXACTLY LIKE the OEM unit. If you have the right screwdriver it is a 10 minute job to replace. 8 screws on the bottom cover, 4 screws on the battery inside, and one connector to unplug/replug. Take care with the speaker wires on the far left and right of the pc, they actually clip into the plastic of the battery. While I was replacing the battery i noticed that one of the screws that held the screen hinges in place had come loose, so i put that back in place and tightened that as well. Also, having the battery out and no power gave the system a chance to do a hard power reset. When started it back up after the battery replacement, it complained about a CMOS reset, but all was well.Honestly, my initial problem could have been the random screw floating around in my laptop shorting things out, it could have just needed a hard power/cmos reset, or it could have been the battery. But I can tell you that for the decent price and low installation effort, I don;t care, This fixed it.I'm typing this review two weeks after the replacement, on the laptop in question, unplugged, and all is well!
Installed in a Spectre x360 13-4003 laptop. The connector was a little long, and there isn't much room to tuck the extra wire, but it's better than too short! The left mounting screw location was low by 1/8". I was able to get it to thread, but it was tough and I was worried the plastic on the battery would crack. I believe it may have shifted the circuit board up a little, as it made getting the screw on the bottom cover really hard to thread. This is not an OEM battery, and it's priced accordingly. Battery showed about 65% charge. Have run a couple cycles and it seems to be working very well. No more battery anxiety. I would recommend. Ready to get another 5 years from this laptop!
Note that the connector is a bit tight. I used a pair of conventional metal tweezers with pointed tips to make sure the connector is all the way in. I manually calibrated the battery -- fully charge the battery, discharge the battery using HP PC Hardware Diagnostic Component Tests, and recharge the battery. Initial discharging using memory extensive test (loop until error) took about 3 hours. I'm satisfied with its initial performance. Under normal circumstances, this battery will last much longer than 3 hours between charge.
