Let's keep this simple, you will like this product if:1) You like to take selfies, but just don't want the FBI taking them for you (ha!)2) You can be patient with application3) You want a subtle privacy measure so your friends won't make fun of you for being paranoidPros:1) I may be the only one, but I was SHOCKED at how small this device was (see picture on iPhone 7+)2) It provides an additional layer of security for those apps you don't feel great about but have to grant camera access to3) You can avoid the lovely double chin face that occurs when you accidentally open your camera and it's facing the wrong directionCons:1) The adhesive can/will try to come off when you take off the plastic backing. Tweezers help. If done correctly, it should come off easily; you shouldn't have to tug2) The slider on the device does not make the satisfying click you would expect, but it does stay in placePro Tips:1) Place the device on your phone so that it does not block the speaker2) Use tweezers to applyIf you liked this review, please give it a "Helpful"!
Okay first, These are really well built! If you had any question, they are indeed metal. So any appearance of plastic in photos is just misleading.I bought these for use on my PIXEL 2 XL (front and back). They will work great on a laptop too but you have hundreds of options for a laptop. I needed something that would hold up to the day to day abuse a smartphone experiences and after reviewing many product decided to try these. I'm pleased but I think there is room for improvement.I did actually install these on the rear facing camera of my PIXEL 2 XL as well as the front. Most people think the rear facing camera lens is larger because the cell phone manufacturers use a larger glass to cover the actual camera. However if you look closely, you can see the rear camera isn't usually any larger than the front. So despite the small size of these covers (which I like) they were absolutely large enough to use on the rear facing camera as well as the front. Why then only four stars? Well because they need some slight modification to work well. I made some modifications others I'd recommend the manufacturer consider.Modification #1: The sliding lens cover moved too easily on the pair I received. I'd like to see a very fine felt or something like that added to the groove that the lens cover follows. This would create some reliable friction between the holder and cover. The pair I received would actually slide open and closed simply by gravity. I have not yet come up with a thin enough material that I could add but I found a make-shift solution that so far is working okay. Before I installed them, I placed them face down and very lightly tapped them with a small hammer. Don't go crazy, just tap a little and test them. If it's not enough tap more. This process made the groove smaller so they had a little more friction. The problem is I've already noticed after a week that they are moving more easily than when I first installed them. I may have to tap them again, but I don't want to do that while they are installed on my phone.Modification #2: No where in the instructions does it mention this but you should really remove all oils from your phone and fingers before installing. What I mean is, wipe down the area you want to stick them to with rubbing alcohol. You need to get rid of the oils that are most definitely on your glass. Let that air dry and wipe your fingers too so all oils are gone before touching these. They will stick better if you do that.Optional Modification #3: The 3M tape used to hold these is quite strong but it remains gooey even after a week. This makes it easier to remove them later but also means they can slide a little on the very smooth glass. I contemplated removing the 3M tape and using a glass/metal adhesive such as  Beacon Glass, Metal & More Premium Permanent Glue, 2-Ounce  but that was a little more permanent that I wanted to do right now. This would almost certainly leave a permanent mark on the glass if the cover was ever removed. This is YOUR decision and I'm not ready to do this quite yet. Just be aware that unless you are careful the 3M glue tape that comes will these will not prevent them from eventually sliding around and probably falling off. I anticipate I'll have to re-stick them every month or so.Recommended design change #1 (See attached drawing): The primary contributor to why these will fall of someday is most likely not the glue. Despite being very thin, they still have a 0.026" vertical edge that can get caught on clothes etc. I really think a slight modification to the design by adding a chamfer(bevel) to the entire rim would be a huge help. Yes this will make them about 3mm longer and wider but will likely drastically reduce the chance they will be ripped off if caught on something.Recommended design change #2 (See attached drawing): this is related to the felt in the rim to create some friction, please review the attached photo.Bottom line, I'll buy more but I'm definitely hoping so see improvement in areas I outlined above.I hope this helps.
This was a great buy! I needed a slim camera cover for my 2019 MacBook Air, and I wanted something that wouldn’t interfere with the lid closing to allow for triggering sleep mode.Installation was a little tricky only because it was so small and the MacBook’s camera hole isn’t terribly visible, but it comes with a nifty little clear adhesive strip so I could see where to line it up with the aid of a flashlight.I also put one on a Samsung Chromebook Plus V2 with no issues. On both laptops, this slides easily, with no adhesive slip when I slide it back and forth, which is a problem I’ve had with other camera covers.
