★★★★☆ Pros: The 5th gen Surface Pro (2017) has plenty of storage, memory, speed, and features for our needs and is more competitively priced that subsequent models. SSD drive boots very quickly. Light, thin, good sound quality and volume, runs cool with no fan needed. Cons: I would prefer a rigid friction-type hinge for the optional type cover (keyboard). The kickstand and a limp keyboard connection is a bit more awkward and a bit less comfortable than other convertible laptop/tablets, such as the ASUS T-100, where the keyboard rests on your lap, and the tablet holds whatever angle you set (sans kickstand). Overall Review: Despite my preference for a stiff keyboard/tablet connection, this is a solid convertible tablet/laptop, especially at the big savings relative to the Pro 6, 7, or X. I'd recommend it to anyone that wants a light-weight and very portable unit with touchscreen/stylus functionality. Suitable for business apps, browsing, entertainment, but probably not high-end games and computing intensive applications (like engineering simulation).
